Dr. Schrunk graduated from Iowa State University receiving a Bachelor’s Degree in Biology in 2000. In 2003, Dr. Schrunk graduated from Southern College of Optometry in Memphis, TN with Doctorate of Optometry.

Dr. Schrunk is a member of the American Optometric Association, Board of Director in the Iowa Optometric Association, and was voted Young O.D. of the Year in 2004. He has had case reports published and does many presentations to many organizations and businesses about eye health. Dr. Schrunk also serves as Chairman of the Board of Directors for Burgess Health Center Hospital, Iowa Alumni Liaison for Southern College of Optometry, President of the Anthon Community Center Board of Directors, and Board of Directors of the Ronald McDonald House of Siouxland. He has served 15 years on the Anthon Volunteer Fire & Rescue Squad at levels of Certified Firefighter 1 and Advanced EMT levels serving as Squad Director for 2 years and 16 years on the Anthon Golf Club board serving as Treasurer for 3 years.

Originally from Mapleton, IA, Dr. Schrunk and his wife Angela reside just outside of Anthon, IA, and have two children, Kami and Korey. Hobbies include spending time with family, farming, UTVing, camping, golf, playing cards, hunting, commodity trading, traveling, and various other activities.
